As a [state teacher/public employee] [retired state teacher/retired public employee], I wish to protect the value of retirement funds for myself and my professional colleagues. I believe that their value would be best protected if my pension fund voted its Fox Corp shares in support of the shareholder resolution on Fox Corp’s proxy ballot (resolution #5) in November that would reconstitute Fox Corp as a Public Benefit Corporation (PBC).

 

In my opinion, Fox News disinformation campaigns regarding issues such as Covid-19 and climate change threaten the stability of U.S. society and government and can roil our economy and the world’s, thereby jeopardizing the value of the rest of the pension fund’s diversified portfolio.  If Fox Corp were a PBC, its directors would be able to take a broader perspective on the best interests of shareholders such as myself, who rely for our portfolio value far more on healthy social and environmental systems that support a thriving economy than on the outperformance of any single corporation’s stock.
